SITI AMINAH - Hati yang dikasih Allah

Bagi kami, semua anak di Pondok Sukacita sangatlah berharga. Kami memulai menyatakan bahwa mereka berharga dengan memanggil nama mereka plus sebutan khusus mereka. Misalnya Rio Rajin, Yudha baik hati, dan sebagainya. Nah, ada seorang anak - namanya Siti Aminah. Kami memanggilnya Minah. Minah usianya 5 tahun. cantik wajahnya dan ramah sekali, meskipun perlu kerja ekstra keras untuk menjangkau hatinya. Kami memanggil Minah cantik. Kami selalu menjadikannya sebagai contoh kebersihan. Minah selalu berusaha mandi dulu, bedakan (meskipun wajahnya putih semua) dan pakai baju yang rapi, meskipun sederhana. Minah selalu tampil bersih dibandingkan teman-temannya yang datang ke Pondok Sukacita.

2 minggu lalu, adik minah lahir ke dunia dalam keadaan prematur. Dengan berat 1,8 Kg, Adik Minah lahir tidak sesuai perkiraan (harusnya perkiraan pertengahan november baru lahir). Adiknya harus segera di bawa ke rumah sakit, sempat menjalani inkubator beberapa waktu dan harus pulang ke rumah, karena biaya inkubator Rp. 600 ribu perhari. dengan alat sederhana Adik minah di rawat di rumah dan kemudian di bawa pulang ke Madura selama 1 minggu.

Ketika di Madura, Minah setiap hari gelisah dan selalu menanyakan mengenai kami. Minah kangen belajar lagi, main lagi, diangkat-angkat tinggi oleh saya, atau sekedar menggodanya. Pada malam hari, kata Ayahnya, Minah sampai mengigau memanggil nama kami. Beberapa hari yang lalu, saya menelponnya. Dia senang luar biasa... teriak...teriak ... begitu girang.Senang sekali mendengar suaranya lagi, setelah beberapa waktu tidak bisa mendengar suaranya.

Minah mengatakan bahwa selasa dan rabu ini dia akan ikut belajar di Pondok Sukacita. Meskipun tempat kami belajar kecil (banget - cuma 3X4M - untuk menampung 40 - 50 anak, weleh---weleh--- kata si Komo), tapi hatinya sudah ada di sana. HAti SITI AMINAH yang sederhana menangkap sesuatu dari rumah kecil kami. Rumah yang kami panggil BETHELEM dalam doa kami. Rumah cinta dan sukacita bagi anak-anak ini.

Beberapa bulan lalu, Istri saya pernah bercerita bahwa dia sempat bercerita mengenai bayi Yesus kepada Aminah. Aminah mendengar dengan penuh haru, meskipun istri saya belum menantangnya untuk menerima KRistus. Kami hanya melihat sesuatu yang berbeda dari hidupnya; Minah selalu jadi anak yang tinggal ketika belajar selesai. dia membantu merapikan karpet, merapikan mainan yang berceceran, dan sebungkus susu coklat membuat harinya begitu bahagia.

Kami hanya ingin selalu bersyukur bahwa Tuhan memperlihatkan keajaiban demi keajaiban lewat pelayanan kecil kami ini. Kami rindu, suatu hari, semua anak-anak yang pernah bertemu kami atau bermain di Pondok kecil kami akan bertemu dengan Tuhan Yesus.... ITU KERINDUAN KAMI YANG SANGAT BESAR...

HIS Blessings' Day for Children at Joyoboyo Bus Station

HIS BLESSINGS' DAY

June.23.2010.The due date had come. The children at Joyoboyo were waiting for this blessing day. It's time for the children to celebrate their great works, good job, and character training for almost 6 months. 

Every learning week, the children got appreciation for their passions, works, characters, diligent, etc. of learning English. Every week, they collected sticters, pieces by pieces. We tried to appreciate all good things, even some hidden things from the children. We liked to appreciate all children not only by their big works, but specially by who they are in God's love. This approach is something special in the street community. In the street, the children have to face hard time of being judged, being hit by negative comments, actions, even from their parents. But at House of Joy, the children felt acceptance, because we measure them with God's standard. God says that the children are so special and lovely whoever they are. 

My Wife, Merry prepared all stuffs for the children. After hours of shopping at a cheap prize mall at Surabaya, it was the time to share the toys, study stuffs, and crafts things to the children. Merry packed all stuffs into small groups to help the children easier to choose them later. My nephew, Glenn, helped us at the moment. God sent helper at the time in need. Thank You God. Thank You Glenn.

After hours of preparation, we were ready to serve the little ones. When we arrived at Joyoboyo, so many children (even not the student of House of Joy) came to celebrate the day. Before we started, we said sorry to the rest 

of the children and tell them that the stuffs were only for the students. They seemed to understand, tried to help me and Merry to arrange the room. (the picture on the right side is our rent room. The room is quiet small for our 30 students, but it was our best home ever. (My wife always think that the small home is representing Bethlehem, a small town where the baby Jesus was born. We pray that the small home will be HIS second Bethlehem... a home for JESUS). 

We started the Blessing day with some games first. We divided the children into small group and they played in group. Some new boys asked me weather they could join the game. I welcomed them with warm hug. As the children played, Merry and some moms, and little girl voluntaree prepared the room. We thank God for this ladies team. So excellent job. .... to be continue...

Children are so precious and important

            One week before I graduated (2002), many people asked me about what would I do after graduation. When I said that I wanted to go and serve children at a small and unknown school, they looked at me in a weird way. They asked me “What will you get from ministering little children ?” or “Working with children ? you are too talented to work with the children”. On of the leader of big Church at Surabaya told me, “If you already realize your mistake (decision to serve the children), please contact me. My church needs you”. I felt so sad at the time, and still do until today. So many people don’t know about how precious to serve the precious children.

            Many Christian leaders today think that there are only fews parts of the Bible that talk about children. The Global Alliance for Advancing Holistic Children Development released that more than 1,600 Bible references are talking about Children, sons, daughter, and family relationships that urging us to prepare a protection for the younger generation. These references are almost forgotten by so many preachers. They rare to expose the heart of God for the little children. If Lord Jesus were the preacher, will he talk about HIS heart for the children ?

        At church, preachers like to talk about God’s work among the churches. They talked about family, relationships, serving others, characters of fruit of the Spirit, and so on. But as far as I can remember, in my whole life, I only heard twice about Children’s theme from the pulpit. One is from Dr. Bambang Budijanto (founder of Pelayanan Desa Terpadu). One is from my classmate at the Seminary.

        The Bible does share about how important the children are. Can you imagine, that the coming of the children had made the CREATOR of the universe stopped from HIS work, and turn HIS face to the children. The little children are in Lord Jesus’ heart. That’s why Lord Jesus had to stop preaching to the adult when the young children, brought by their parents, came to Jesus that day. Jesus stopped, turned His face and heart to the children, started to hug and bless them (Mark 10:16). The little children’s heart and life has always been in God’s heart since the first time He created the universe. The Children are so precious and Important. How do you think ?

Cerita Rangga dan Dimas yang mengharukan di Trotoar Joyoboyo

Tepat seminggu yang lalu (26 Mei 2010), ada sebuah kisah yang sangat mengharukan di Pondok Sukacita kami di Terminal Joyoboyo. Ketika saya sedang mempersiapkan diri untuk mengajar dan membagi susu untuk anak-anak jalanan ini, beberapa anak datang kepada saya dan memberitahukan bahwa Pak B sedang marah-marah. Pak B adalah pemilik rumah yang kami pinjam untuk belajar anak-anak jalanan ini. Anak-anak mengatakan semua anak yang mau belajar di Pondok Sukacita diusir oleh karyawan Pak B. Anak-anak lari ketakutan dan langsung mendatangi saya. Saya yang agak bingung dengan kejadian ini hanya mampu menghela nafas. Udah kali kesekian kami diusir dari tempat belajar kami. Saya tahu mengapa Pak B begitu kasar kepada kami.... 

Awalnya dia dengan senang hati meminjamkan tempat itu untuk anak-anak belajar. "Untuk pekerjaan sosial" katanya. Namun sebulan terakhir, saya begitu terusik dengan kalimat yang berulang-ulang diucapkannya, "Kalian kan kaya, ayo sewa tempat itu". Ketika saya tanya harganya, dia berkata "ya, saya beri harga Rp.10 juta aja setahun". Kami semua yang mendengar perkataan itu kaget bukan main. Untuk sebuah tempat yang tidak terurus itu (memang gedung itu kosong sudah lama karena Pak B menyewakannya dengan harga yang sangat mahal - Rp. 4 jutaan setahun). Namun untuk kami, dia membuka harga Rp. 10.000.000. Darimana uang sebanyak itu ? saya lalu bernego setiap kali bertemu dengannya. Kami menawar harga 4 juta, 5 juta, 6 juta... tetapi tetap tidak bergeming. Dia mengganggap kami kaya...(walaupun memang kami kaya hati karena hati kami besar dan lapang ... untuk menyayangi orang lain, red). 

Minggu lalu, saya memberanikan diri menemui Pak B. Wajahnya agak menakutkan. Istri saya bahkan tidak berani ber"nego" (berdebat) dengan dia. Saya lalu mendatangi "kantor"nya di sekitar Ponten (WC umum) Joyoboyo. Pak B adalah juragan Ponten. SEtiap orang yang menggunakan WC umum harus membayar kepada dia. Dia pemilik kontrakan di sekitar gang kelinci itu. Dia pemilik WC juga. Jadi bisa dibayangkan berapa banyak uang yang bisa diperoleh per harinya dari orang-orang papa di sekitar Joyoboy. Kencing (Rp.1.000), mandi (R0.2000), tinggal di toilet (????). Ketika bertemu dengan Pak B, dia masih menanyakan kontrakan yang 10 juta itu. Dalam nego akhirnya dia berkata 9 juta tidak kurang lagi. Saya memberanikan diri bertanya apakah saya bisa menyewanya perhari ? dia berkata bisa dan harganya Rp. 75.000 sekali pakai. Saya kembali Shock... hah ... mahal sekali.... padahal uang segitu bisa dibelikan makanan dan minuman bergizi bagi anak-anak jalanan ini. Dia berkata bahwa kalau tidak mau bayak segitu, minggu depan (hari ini - 2 mei 2010) saya dan anak-anak tidak boleh lagi menggunakan tempat itu. 

Dalam pembicaraan yang berat sebelah itu, saya hanya terdiam.... tanpa saya sadari, ada 2 orang anak yang saya sayangi. Nama mereka adalah Rangga (anak kelas 4 SD) dan Dimas (anak kelas 2 SD). Mereka adalah pengamen jalanan. Mereka adalah dua anak yang paling rajin belajar di Pondok Sukacita kami. Mereka duduk dilantai,  berdua di belakang saya sambil memandang dan mendengarkan percakapan saya dengan Pak B. SEtelah saya disuruh pergi oleh Pak B, Kami berjalan ke tempat parkir dalam keadaan lesu... Rangga dan Dimas menarik saya dan membuat langkah saya terhenti. Dengan lembut Rangga berkata, "Kak Rudy, nanti aku beritahu teman-teman. kumpulin uang tiap anak Rp.500 untuk bantu sampean bayar rumah belajar". Dimas juga berkata, "ojok kuatir kak Rudy, aku ngamennya kuat, iso bayar sewa rumah iki". Tidak terasa, air mata saya jatuh.... dua anak yang hatinya disentuh oleh kasih Tuhan, sekarang menyatakan kasihnya dengan begitu luar biasa.... Saya peluk kedua anak itu dan mengatakan "kalian tidak perlu pikirkan mengenai rumah itu. itu tanggung jawab kak Rudy. Yang penting sekarang kalian belajar dengan semangat. Ntar kalian yang mengajar adik-adikmu. 

Hari ini saya tahu Tuhan menyentuh hati kami berdua dengan kasih yang sederhana dari dua orang  anak bernama Rangga dan Dimas. Tuhan seakan berkata, "Rudy... Merry.... Aku melihat apa yang kamu kerjakan di Joyoboyo. Teruslah bagikan cinta di antara anak-anak yang tidak beruntung ini. Teruslah berbagi cinta Kristus kepada mereka. Aku menyertaimu sampai kesudahannya".  

Tuhan terima kasih karena cinta dan kesetiaan-Mu atas hidup kami. Teruslah berkarya dalam dan melalui diri kami agar nama-Mu semakin diagungkan di seluruh bumi ini. Terpujilah nama Tuhan.

My Beloved little Ones @ Pondok Sukacita (House of Joy)

Pondok Sukacita (House of Joy) is a place at a Bus Station, called Joyoboyo, where we share love, joy, and hope through our education system. We help the street children to learn, not just a subject of study, but about life. We share life there. That's why we named the place "House of Joy". At the picture, you can see our room. We borrow the room from an old man. He, generously, give us chance to use the room. He is so happy to know that many children will learn something there. We still have no place to stay. 

         In the rain season, we have to ready to work harder. The room we use is an old room. If the rain comes down, All rain water will go through the roof. The roof is so criple, with lots of hole all over the place. We mobbed and dried the room. Sometimes the children help us to do it. It's the time for me to teach them how to love others through our service.  

          Here is some of my beloved little Ones. They are so precious and God put them so deep in my heart. I teach them every week at the bus station (Joyoboyo, Surabaya). The most important things are that God is working so deep in their heart. God is shaping their life through the Class Programs. We learn English, Basic Life skills, and character. We glad that some of them are growing so great, learning to be polite in their tough life. They have to live on the street everyday. Most of them are pengamen (children that sing at the street - street singer). Their lives are so hard, have to face difficulties in their young ages. God puts them in our heart. My wife, Merry, Loves them so much. She still insist to serve them even she is pregnant now. God's love is on the move at the street. We love them and we want to share their life to you all... hope the stories will bless you all....
